Direct donations

Making a direct donation is the simplest way to support the Foundation’s work in exactly the way you prefer. Make your donation via:

  • Online gift (we’ve made donating online easier than ever!)
  • Check payable to the WDA Foundation, Inc.
  • Credit card (Visa, MasterCard and Discover)
  • Cash

You may designate your gift as unrestricted – to be used where the need is greatest – or earmark it for a specific Foundation program or project. Direct donations can be made in honor of a person or event or in memory of an individual.

If you designate a recurring monthly or annual gift, we will send you a regular reminder. If the gift is made by credit card, you can authorize the Foundation to automatically charge your card on the desired date.

Dues statement donations

Active WDA members can regularly show their support by making a donation on their annual dues statement. The suggested donation is $100.

Last year, approximately $64,000 was raised through your generous dues statement donations, with close to 40% of all active WDA members making this much-needed gift.

Your support to OUR Foundation is needed to fund the programs & services that improve the oral health of low-income Wisconsin residents.

Stocks and securities

A gift of stock can greatly benefit you and the WDA Foundation.

If the stock has increased in value from the time of purchase, you may be able to avoid paying the capital gains tax by donating it to the Foundation. In addition, the total amount of the donation may be eligible for a tax deduction. For stocks that have decreased in value, you may wish to sell the securities first and make your gift with the proceeds. This may allow you to deduct the capital loss when preparing your taxes.

For specific details on how to make a donation of stock, please refer to WDA Foundation Stock Transfer Information Sheet or email foundation@wda.org.

For information on tax advantages, please contact your attorney or tax advisor.

Planned giving

A planned gift gives you the opportunity to make a contribution at a later date without impacting your current savings.

By naming the WDA Foundation in your will or as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy, IRA, 401(k), retirement plan or charitable trust, you are providing for the future of dentistry while creating a personal legacy in your profession. Typically, a planned gift includes a percentage of the donor’s estate to be contributed to the charity after the family is provided for.

Your planned gift also makes you eligible for membership in the WDA Foundation Legacy Society, which honors those who have joined with the Foundation to create a tradition of improving oral health for Wisconsin’s future.

The Foundation needs no personal information at the time of your induction into the Legacy Society. After you have designated your planned gift through your attorney or financial planner, all that is required is a completed letter of intent returned to the Foundation.

In addition to being listed as a WDA Foundation Legacy Society member, you also will receive a small token of our appreciation.

Host a fund-raising event

Make a difference in a more personal way by hosting a fundraiser to support the Foundation. The WDA Foundation would like to support your efforts and provide some ideas on how you can help!

Here are some steps to help you begin the process:

  1. Determine the type of event you want to host. Raising money is important, but it’s just as important to have fun in the process. Here are a few ideas to help you get started.
  2. Inform the WDA Foundation at the start of your event planning so that we can help you begin your event on the right track. There are many important steps to successful fundraising, not to mention specific rules, and the Foundation can provide you with those details.
  3. When you’re ready to begin, please complete the event proposal form. You can mail or email it to the WDA Foundation. You will receive a follow-up within 10 business days after receipt of your proposal to let you know if your idea is approved.
  4. Be sure you establish a budget for your event so you are not left with bills when the event is over. The WDA Foundation cannot provide financial support for any third-party fundraisers.
  5. Have questions? The answers to some of the most frequently asked questions can be found here:
